Position Overview
The Lead Senior Accountant will lead the fixed asset accounting team located in Roswell, GA.
This position will support the Accounting Department and operations of the Company and is responsible for the development and implementation of the vision, mission, and functional strategy for fixed asset accounting that supports the company’s overall strategic goals.
This position is responsible for the evaluation and implementation of new and improved systems and processes to create significant efficiencies and increased automation.
In addition, this position is responsible for hiring top talent, driving continuous training, and mentoring.
This individual functions as a key member of the SiteOne accounting team and is expected to manage interactions across all functions to ensure strategies and priorities are aligned with company objectives and financial controls.
This includes developing collaborative relationships with business leaders to drive value-add measurable results and continuous improvement of processes.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB
Responsibilities include overseeing all fixed asset accounting functions, including, but not limited to, duties associated with the monthly financial close, reconciliations, maintaining a strong internal control environment, asset management, and capital reporting.
This position also collaborates with key Finance business partners to develop and refine processes while ensuring adherence to accounting policies and internal controls.
The Lead Senior Accountant:
- Ensures the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of month end close activities for fixed assets, including journal entries, monthly account reconciliations, and reporting.
- Reviews journal entries for accuracy, aids in the research of variances and root cause analysis of key accounts and implements measures to aid in accuracy of reporting.
- Analyzes Capital Spend and ongoing projects (CIP), provide aging and related metrics of CIP assets to ensure assets are placed into service upon completed of project.
- Functions as the point of contact for the business on all aspects of capital expenditure request.
- Serves as subject matter expert pertaining to fixed asset controls, financial controls, and GAAP standards.
- Assess capital expenditures for proper accounting treatment in accordance with GAAP and internal reporting policies.
- Establishes accounting operational strategies by evaluating trends, establishing critical measurements, resolving problems, and implementing change.
- Faces situations that are unstructured and requires original and disciplined approaches.
- Requires highly developed interpersonal skills for dealing with sensitive situations.
- Assist with purchase accounting and integration of acquisitions.
- Supports the corporate tax group on matters related to fixed assets.
- Works directly with internal and external auditors on all matters pertaining to functional area of responsibility.
- Partners with senior leadership to make sure strategies and priorities are aligned with company objectives while ensuring appropriate financial controls.
- Provides leadership to drive the organization towards world-class systems and processes that exceed performance expectations.
- Functions as a project and solution leader with accountability for the overall delivery of system improvements of critical enterprise platforms related to treasury
- Directs ongoing financial system requirements and improvements with the Company’s IT resources.
- Designs, implements, maintains, and improves controls to ensure ongoing compliance with the requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
- Directs staff while managing performance, development, training, and careers for the treasury accounting team.
- Prepares ad-hoc financial reports and analysis to senior management.
- Carries out special projects as required.
Skills We Are Seeking
Education:
- Bachelor ’s Degree in Accounting required.
- CPA preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant progressive corporate accounting experience.
- Experience in large, multi-location company environments required.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
- Strong time management and organizational skills required.
- Management experience preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skill required.
- Experience with a large ERP, preferably Microsoft AX Dynamics.
- Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with demonstrated ability to anticipate next steps, take initiative, and apply sound judgment.
- Experience and strong understanding of monthly close and reporting cycles in a large complex US corporate environment preferred.
