The position is based in Charlotte, North Carolina, and reports to the Chief Risk Officer.IRM operates as an independent “second line of defense” function and has responsibility for the investment risk governance framework, regulatory and Board reporting and, in partnership with the Risk, Analytics and Quantitative team (RAQ) team, in defining and setting appropriate investment risk metrics, levels, escalation protocols and in the analysis of market and portfolio risks.The successful candidate will have market and investment risk expertise across both liquid and illiquid assets with a solid understanding of liquidity risk and derivatives.

The candidate will serve as Secretary of the Investment Risk Committee and will be expected to contribute to various initiatives designed to evolve and enhance our investment risk management framework and practices.This role requires outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders in investment areas, RAQ, Global Technology and Operations (GTO), product development and with other control functions at the Firm.Primary Responsibilities* Working with the Risk leadership team, contribute to the development and implementation of an effective and efficient investment risk management infrastructure to measure, monitor, report and aggregate investment risks within and across asset classes, strategies and products.* Assist in the development and rollout of metrics, processes and escalation protocols to identify, aggregate and manage investment risks across alternative asset classes.* Collaborate with the RAQ team to ensure portfolios are managed as intended and that they remain within limits.* Participate in asset class and portfolio review forums led by RAQ to understand drivers of portfolio risk and return, and when appropriate, provide independent challenge.* Provide MI reporting and analysis to senior management and to committees.* Establish processes and practices to identify investment risks associated with the launch of new businesses and products.* Drive efficiencies across IRM and the boarder Risk Management organizationQualificationsThe ideal candidate would have the following:* A Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field.

MBA preferred.* 7 to 10 years of relevant experience within a global financial services organization* Prior investment risk management experience required, ideally within a global asset management firm.* Knowledge of buy side market risk platforms.* Must be highly analytical, with keen business acumen and a self-starter with the ability to work independently.* Must possess sound judgement, superior communications, interpersonal and presentation skills, and have a consultative approach to problem solving.* Strong project management experienceBarings is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer; Minority/Female/Age/Sexual Orientation/Gender Identity/Individual with Disability/Protected Veteran.
