Institutional Investment Administration Analyst I

Purpose of Job

We are currently seeking a talented Institutional Investment Administration Analyst I for the San Antonio Home Office I.

Applies high quality investment research to new securities purchased in the institutional portfolios under limited supervision. Studies securities on the Bloomberg terminal while working with USAA Research Analysts and consults other market data sources. Responsible for creating, defining, and maintaining securities records in the order management, accounting and data warehouse systems, as well as conducting initial post-trade compliance tests.

  • Determines the proper value of new securities and populates missing security master fields including sector, security type, collateral type, issuer, obligor, sponsor, guarantor.
  • Corrects security master data when errors are reported.
  • Diagnoses and investigates system and data problems -independent from Asset Management Company (AMCO) analysts–and determines root cause of errors.
  • Runs compliance tests after new trades.
  • Detects errors and determines cause.
  • Corrects data problems and/or or notifies Compliance, traders and portfolio managers of any compliance violations.
  • Acquires and applies broad knowledge of the investment business, products and processes.
    Identifies opportunities and potential solutions.
  • Resolves issues and navigates obstacles to deliver work product.
  • Serves as a resource to less experienced team members on escalated issues of a routine nature.
  • Performs all other tasks as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field required; 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree
  • Minimum of 4 years’ in investment administration experience in the financial services industry.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience and understanding of Bank Repos, Collateral Management and Cash Trading Instruments
  • Experience using Bloomberg, Princeton Asset Management (PAM) or Aladdin
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
