Grand Canyon Lodge at North Rim is located at an elevation of 8000 feet. Your ability and willingness to work at a high elevation and a remote location are important factors in our hiring process. Job DescriptionThe Accounting Lead is responsible for the proper day-to-day function of accounting operations. Performs daily accounting and auditing tasks, provides stakeholders with critical decision-making information, and assists with business and employment-related accounting issues.Essential Duties/Responsibilities/FunctionsPerforms Daily Audit per Department procedures.Prepares and verifies deposits and reports; completes change requests.Reviews all revenue figures and reports for accuracy.Fills out change requests for departments and forwards them appropriately.Checks credit card deposits to credit card spreadsheets; balances credit card deposits and cash deposits to MTD audit totals.Ensures accurate balance of cash-on-hand.Maintains accurate inventory records and assists with monthly inventory counts.Updates revenue charts.Assists with training of Accounting Clerks.Provides reports and summaries to location departments in a timely manner and with complete accuracy. Ensures strict adherence to all company accounting policy and procedures.Maintain strict confidentiality of accounting information and adhere to company policiesKeeps various environmental logs up to date as needed.Assist with Accounts Payable as needed.Coordinates with the property staff on accounting issues. Communicates with department managers, providing assistance as needed.Assist in maintaining office supplies, food checks, folios, etc. while staying within budget.Knows and follows all company, Environmental, Health, and Safety Management Programs and policies.Works extra shifts and hours as required.Assists in other departments as needed.Other duties as assigned. QualificationsRead, write, speak and understand EnglishGeneral knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.Knowledge of company policy, particularly accounting policy.Strong mathematical skills and attention to accuracy.Proper and accurate money handling and cash counting skills.Very good organizational and time management skills.Good business communication skills.Good computer skills including accurate typing and data-entry skills.Proficient in MS Office (Word and Excel).Ability to follow written and verbal instruction.Able to work with minimal or no direct supervision.Ability to learn and apply all company training.Ability to maintain confidentiality.Physical Requirements To Perform Job DutiesMust be able to understand normal conversation and accurately communicate informationAbility to remain seated for extended periods of time.Ability to stand and walk on paved, unpaved, uneven and sometimes slippery surfaces for extended periods of time.Ability to climb stairs occasionally.Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, twist and turn occasionally.Ability to grasp, finger, and reach down, forward and overhead frequently.Manual dexterity to grasp and handle cash, coins, paper, phones, etc.Must be able to use general cleaning supplies; Grasp, lift, push, pulland use cleaning equipment.Ability to use a computer.Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.Education And/Or Experience Required To Perform Job DutiesHigh School Diploma, GED, or equivalent and 1 year of related work experience, or equivalent combination of work experience and education required.Associates Degree in Accounting or related field preferred.Prior work experience using cash registers/point-of-sale systems preferred.Prior experience using MS Office, Word and Excel required.Two years of work experience in hospitality or cash handling/accounting preferred.Additional InformationGrand Canyon North Rim, LLC provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
