At GFC, we are seeking a Financial Controller to oversee the financial activities of the company, including analyzing, summarizing, and reporting on GFC’s financial standing to internal & external stakeholders.
The Financial Controller has an opportunity make a significant impact on the business through assisting with the development of internal control policies, accounting procedures, and financial planning.
As the supervisor of the Accounting team, the Financial Controller will manage and supervise all aspects of accounting from payroll to tax compliance.
This position reports directly to the CFO and works closely with all functions of GFC.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage all aspects of accounting; billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, inventory accounting, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses Advise the CFO on financial matters and assist in preparing the annual budget and forecasts Develop & maintain strategic, collaborative, and productive relationships with internal & external partners, such as team members in other GFC departments, clients’ representatives, external audit firms, partner banks, etc.
Advise management on daily cash position, credit and collection issues, and timely disbursements to meet financial obligations.
Compile & organize information and statements to facilitate completion of annual audits Prepare quarterly/annual financial reports and financial statements Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws & regulatory requirements regarding finances, tax filings, and reporting Define, benchmark, and implement operational best practices for the Accounting team THE MOST QUALIFIED CANDIDATES POSSESS THE FOLLOWING: Accounting experience in the Fastener, Distribution, or Manufacturing industries Experience working with international suppliers and clients Experience using Epicor Prophet 21 software KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE POSITION: Exceptional knowledge of US GAAP Demonstrated knowledge of import/export accounting requirements Demonstrated knowledge of & experience with IVA and IRS tax preparation Excellent communication skills including verbal, written, listening, and interpersonal are required to identify opportunities and communicate in a clear & concise manner Strong leadership skills, including the ability to drive change, build trust, instill confidence, engage and inspire others, work collaboratively, and influence professional relationships throughout the organization.
Ability to create a positive team dynamic that encourages all employees in the Accounting team to provide feedback and drive change within GFC Must be self-directed and possess a high level of personal organization & time management skills in order to manage conflicting priorities under tight deadlines.
Strong technical aptitude, quantitative analytical skills, and innovative approach to problem solving Customer-centric attitude and a desire to grow with & contribute to a customer focused organization Flexible in approach in order to readily adapt to unexpected events and changes in business needs that affect prioritization Proficient use of accounting software Proficient use of a PC and Microsoft Office Suite; Expert level skill using Excel Experience with ERP or similar resource management software Willingness and ability to work extended hours when necessary REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field 10 years of progressive experience in Accounting 3 years of experience as an Accounting Supervisor or Controller PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position has supervisory responsibility for the Accounting team.
TRAVEL: Occasional travel is expected for this position (10%).
