FINANCIAL ANALYST This position of Financial Analyst will be based at the headquarters of Knight Transportation in Phoenix, Arizona and will report to the Vice President of Finance.
This role will be responsible for financial support and partnering for multiple businesses and functional organizations.
The focus of the role will be helping to drive operational effectiveness, analysis of the profitability and cost management of operations, and the development of tools and reporting capabilities to support the business in achieving its growth and profitability objectives.
This role will work with multiple leadership positions in regions throughout the country and provide an opportunity to use financial acumen, communication, and leadership skills to impact the direction and operations of the organization.
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES Work with stakeholders to identify opportunities for operational and financial improvement; presents findings and recommendations to the leadership team and assist in implementation.
Prepare internal financial reporting and lead financial reviews with business service centers across the country.
Train and educate non-finance employees on effective financial management practices.
Develop key metrics and prepare financial/statistical reports (financial, customer service, operational efficiency, market share, macro/micro economic analysis, etc.) for Executives, VPs, and organization leaders.
Perform financial analysis using modeling to identify cause-and-effect relationships between variables; interpret analyses and provide action-based recommendations to the company leadership team.
Transform large amounts of data into a clear compelling story through means of querying data, building financial models, interpreting data, and communicating action-based recommendations to the business leadership team.
Lead projects and improvement initiatives as assigned by leadership.
Partner with business leaders on deep-dive projects and ad-hoc analysis.
Proactively seek opportunities to broaden and deepen knowledge base and proficiencies and share acquired skills with team members through formal and informal channels.
Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner which facilitates the success of business operations in order to meet company goals and expectations.
Develop enhanced reporting processes and tools to increase the effectiveness of financial management in the organization.
Education Bachelors degree from an accredited university or college with a major in finance or accounting.
MBA from accredited university or CPA a plus.
Work Experience Two (2) plus years finance related business experience is required.
Skills and Abilities Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Proven ability to create advanced interactive and variable financial models and reports Demonstrated critical thinking skills Advanced understanding of financial measurement tools including NPV, IRR, WACC, ROA, and ROI Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with executive leadership Ability to multi-task and prioritize work Self-starter who can thrive in an unstructured work environment and needs minimal motivation or direct supervision Strong knowledge of accounting including the balance sheet, income statement, and the cash flow statement familiarity with interrelationships.
