Finance brings together enterprise functions that drive Wells Fargo’s financial management, including accounting and control, financial planning and analysis, line of business finance, asset-liability management, treasury, tax management, and the company’s investment portfolios. They also inform shareholders, regulators, taxing authorities, employees, and leaders of the company’s financial performance through earnings releases, investor meetings and conferences, and meetings with regulators and credit rating agencies, following appropriate reporting guidelines.

The role of the Broker Dealer and Traded Products Accounting Team is to support each line of business while partnering with the various accounting shared-service teams, operational accounting Centers of Excellence and our key line of business partners to ensure that:
•    The books and records are accurate and complete
•    The control environment is well designed and operating effectively
•    Key processes are operating effectively and efficiently
•    Reporting and communication requirements are satisfied on a timely basis

The Role

This Financial Accounting Lead Consultant role will serve as the lead accounting resource for the Renewable Energy & Environmental Finance (REEF) non marketable equity investment portfolio including activities such as overseeing the application of the Hypothetical Liquidation at Book Value (HLBV) accounting method, interfacing with the Enterprise Accounting Policy (EAP) team on accounting policy interpretations and consultations, and acting as the primary contact to the REEF front office on new transactions and issues across the portfolio.  Additionally, the role will be responsible for enhancing and championing a COSO compliant control environment, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of SEC and Regulatory reports and filings.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: finance, accounting, analytics, financial reporting, accounting reporting or risk reporting demonstrated through work or military experience

Desired Qualifications

  • A BS/BA degree or higher in one or a combination of the following: Finance, Accounting, Analytics, or Reporting
  • Ability to manage effectively in a matrixed organization
  • Financial services industry experience
  • Strong communication skills and ability to articulate complex material to a diverse audience
  • An active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
  • 2+ years of leadership experience
  • 2+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: SEC reporting, technical accounting or accounting policy
  • Experience creating financial models in the energy industry
  • Experience with Power and Renewables within the Energy and Power industry
  • Experience in tax operations, tax risk mitigation, or tax compliance in a large financial institution
  • Ability to translate and summarize complex data into understandable, actionable information and recommendations
  • Essbase and/or SmartView experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of finance topics common in a capital markets line of business, such as hypothetical cost of carry or portfolio metrics
  • Knowledge and understanding of structured products or market linked investments

Other Desired Qualifications

  • HLBV (Hypothetical Liquidation Book Value) experience 
  • Knowledge of GL systems, GAAP and accounting control policies
  • Ability to roll-out projects that impact the enterprise and able to effectively communicate and partner with a variety of finance, accounting and business professionals.
