ROLE of the POSITION
The Executive Director for Finance, Business and Quality Assurance position exists to serve as principal Enrollment and Student Services (ESS) budget and finance officer responsible for an extensive range of financial and administrative activities and services in support of ESS and its senior staff.
ESS is critical to university operations and encompasses the offices of Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid & Scholarships, Enterprise Application Services, ESS Marketing and Communication, International Students and Scholars, and Military and Veteran Services.
The Executive Director has direct oversight of all ESS-related business and financial operations, including but not limited to, daily fiscal management and compliance, as well as strategic financial planning for ESS units to meet strategic goals.
This position will plan, organize, evaluate and define complex financial planning and management issues, evaluate alternatives and develop sound conclusions and recommendations.
The Executive Director will work with the ESS leadership team to provide timely advice, technical expertise, and leadership in developing strategic financial initiatives to allow for successful completion of unit plans as well as yearly goals.
This position will provide leadership to the AVP Business Office team, as well as ESS department finance and business administrative staff, provide budget analysis and resource allocation monitoring to accurately match with programs and initiatives.
As chief quality assurance officer, the Executive Director will assure ESS units provide consistent quality of products and services.
This position will oversee assessment and evolution of policy and procedures to bring activities in line with the efforts of university stakeholders and external constituents to ensure all unit programs and procedures are applied consistently and are in compliance with federal, state and institutional policies; and, build and maintain effective personal connections both within the University and among community stakeholders and work closely with staff to develop strategic outreach plans for the unit(s) to engage the campus and community.
The Executive Director will also assist and coordinate ongoing and special projects assigned by the AVP, including but not limited to committee, subcommittee, task force, and focus group responsibilities, and provide expertise on information gathering.
*REVISED* QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires a Bachelors from a regionally accredited college or university and 7-9 years of job-related professional experience and 7-9 years of job-related management experience ; background in higher education setting, with in-depth knowledge of university accounting practices and structure, as well as knowledge of managing grants and foundations accounts.
Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.
The Executive Director must exercise discretion and possess excellent financial management, problem-solving, conflict resolution, communication, and administrative skills.
The Executive Director must have the ability to work with limited supervision and manage state, fee and grant accounts, as well as have a firm grasp of UNLV business procedures and policies.
This individual must be able to interact with members of the UNLV community and outside constituents on behalf of the Associate Vice President for Enrollment & Student Services.
Ability to balance federal, state and local regulations, as well as campus and system wide policies and procedures.
Ability to successfully communicate and interact with university and community members.
Demonstrated experience in fiscal management, budget planning and resource allocation.
Ability to conceptualize, plan, execute, and evaluate diverse programs in support of the mission of the unit.
Demonstrated experience as an effective supervisor / manager; ability to effectively train and delegate tasks and assignments to staff, graduate and undergraduate student workers.
Ability to work independently and meet multiple deadlines.
Ability to take initiative and utilize innovative techniques and ingenuity in preparing plans, documents, and other materials.
Ability to manage and prioritize projects effectively to meet office and proposal deadlines, work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Ability to evaluate proposals and make recommendations.
Ability to work with and communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse population.
Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
This includes the ability to persuade and influence people both inside and beyond the UNLV community.
Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
Skilled in managing multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines.
Ability to exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others and to maintain constructive working relationships at all levels of organizations.
Ability to communicate effectively using verbal and written processes, especially among diverse groups of people who may have varying degrees of knowledge about compliance regulations and policies.
Experience coordinating events, including inviting guests, booking reservations and developing agendas and running meetings.
Ability to analyze data trends and apply accordingly to the operations of ESS departments.

Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated ability operating within NSHE accounting practices, budget and fiscal policy, demonstrated proficiency in Workday ERP software including, but not limited to, Finance and HCM business processes.
SALARY RANGE
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions.
Position is contingent upon funding.
Pursuant to Assembly Bill (AB) 3 passed by the Nevada State Legislature during the 31st Special Legislative Session, employees are required to take furlough at a 4.6 percent monthly reduction in compensation from January 1, 2021 through June 30, 2021.
