The Boeing Defense, Space and Security is seeking an Experienced Test and Evaluation Engineer to join our Panel and Array Operations team at Sylmar, CA.

As a member of our Operations team, you will have the opportunity to work on projects covering the entire range of Spectrolab’s products: everything from large and small solar panels and arrays for a variety of space applications to photolithography tooling used to fabricate the world’s most efficient space solar cells to airborne searchlight, gimbal systems and ground-based high-intensity illuminated test systems. You will also have the opportunity to directly contribute to development programs and to help shape our next-generation improvements in product, process and tooling design.
Position Responsibilities:
• Develops, revise, and approve Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Process Specifications, and Quality Control History Records (QCHR’s)
• Generates and provides rework/repair dispositions and instructions for Non-Conformance hardware and process
• Initiates, reviews, and sign-off initial Engineering drawings and Engineering Change Requests (ECRs)
• Maintains test software and configuration files
• Defines/prepares in-situ monitoring instrumentation
• Defines Unique Requirements (cabling, test equipment, specific data to be measured/recorded)
• Performs maintenance (PM or unexpected) and maintenance verification of chambers
• Places test on hold for data that violates requirements in test documentation
• Informs of non-test impact Facilities issues (power, L/GN2, cooling water)
• Informs of Test-impacted Facilities issues (power, L/GN2, cooling water)
• Programs chamber controllers and verifies programming
• Prepares Test Readiness Review presentation package and present to SPL and/or customer
• Works to ensure test was performed per requirements and help with reporting the data
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in an Engineering field
• 3+ years of experience in Data Analysis and Metric Generation
• 3+ years of experience in performing environmental testing (Thermal Cycling and Vibration)
• 3+ years of experience in performing thermal testing (radiant or thermal VAC)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
• Database development (SQL preferred).
• Experience in maintaining production procedure and documentation.
• Experience in General Array Integration and Test operations support.
• Experience in leading RCCA investigation.
Typical Education/ Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
