Senior Java Developer
– Equity Derivatives Whippany, NJ As a Barclays Java Developer, you’ll be responsible for building and enhancing the next generation of Barclays’ equity derivatives trade capture and lifecycle management platform.

Responsibilities will include the development and timely delivery of new and existing software working with project managers, and software engineers to Atlas Trade team.

You will be interacting with the end users in New York to understand issues/feedback and incorporate the same in developing solutions.

What will you be doing?

• To be able to come up with detailed technical design and solution for problems in the equity derivatives trade booking and STP domain and to be able to implement the solution.

• Work with Development Managers globally to understand and contribute to the system architecture and ensure that the development is in line with the strategy and roadmap.

• Work with global team to Implement standards & best practices for software development and ensure compliance to the process including unit testing and continuous integration.

• Use exiting IB and finance domain knowledge to validate the accuracy of the technical solution and adherence to requirements.

• Managing small to medium scale technical deliveries from inception through to delivery
• Able to collaborate successfully with colleagues in other/own departments/Transaction Cycles in order to ensure successful delivery of outcomes What we’re looking for:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent; around 5+ years of experience.

• Core Java (8+) skills including Generics, Collections, Multithreading, Streams and JDBC are required and should be proficient in writing and debugging multithreaded java code.

• Proficiency in technologies supporting Java development and deployment
– Spring, maven, xml
• Knowledge of Equity Derivatives Products and Trade Capture/Lifecycle management.

Skills that will help you in the role:
• Knowledge and prior experience of developing and maintaining SOA based applications in AWS.

• Knowledge of Oracle Coherence and related relevant experience
• Knowledge of messaging platforms such as MQ and Solace and related design patterns for producing and consuming messages.

• Familiarity with Unix shell scripting and/or Python.
