TITLE: Director of Finance (12 month- Exempt)
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Develop an efficient and effective delivery of
financial services for Colonial Beach Public Schools, including
preparation, management, control and reporting of annual budget funding
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manage the School Division’s financial operations including: budgeting, accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, employee benefits including health care, dental, vision, and retirement, grants management, risk management, procurement, and enrollment and demographics
Plan, direct, and control the accounting operation of the School Division to assure legal compliance with federal, state, and local laws as well as compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
Coordinate compliance of expenditures with state and federal laws, School Board policies, regulations and notices
Project revenues and expenditures in preparation for annual budget
Maintain a continuous internal auditing program for all funds
Prepare reports, correspondence, and recommendations related to functions such as internal and external audits, bonded indebtedness, loans, employee benefits and salary scales
Communicate effectively with the Supervisor of Human Resources in all related services
Attend School Board meetings and prepare reports for the School Board
Communicates effectively with all staff and administrators
Demonstrates good work habits to include punctual and regular attendance
Supervised by the Superintendent
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as requested
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and reporting systems
Thorough knowledge of the required reports for School Board, federal, state and local government
Possess excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills
Possess excellent organizational skills including the ability to manage diverse and complex assignments
Demonstrate the ability to interact with the School Board, school officials, other employees and the general public in a courteous and effective manner

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Has successful experience to demonstrate a high level of reliability, attention to detail, and good judgment in financial matters, including thorough knowledge of managing business operations in an on-line data processing environment
Tuberculin skin test certifying that the individual is free of contagious tuberculosis
LICENSE:
Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration or related field;
Five years experience in business/finance or related field, two years in management position preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work involves limited physical tasks and operation of office equipment
HAZARDS:
Work involves exposure to normal everyday hazards
UNUSUAL DEMANDS:
Work is performed throughout the division and requires no unusual demands

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of School Board Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel
