Agios Pharmaceuticals is searching for a dynamic Director, Corporate Finance to join our Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team.

The Director, Corporate Finance will be responsible for leading corporate planning and strategic financial analysis of the Agios portfolio.

This individual will partner cross-functionally to build and maintain a long-range financial model to project company financial performance and analyze capital allocation scenarios.

S/he will provide ad hoc analytical decision support related to new investments and Business Development activities.

S/he will also serve as financial representative to one or more of Agios’ clinical development programs and perform additional responsibilities within the FP&A function including management reporting of financial performance metrics.

This role requires a critical thinker with strategic agility, financial modeling skills, strong business partnership and organizational savvy.

This individual should be highly accountable, collaborative, transparent and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth organization.

The position offers high visibility and opportunities to interact with the CFO and Agios Leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain long range financial model to project company financial performance, valuation and capital needs
  • Frame and execute ad hoc analysis of portfolio scenarios, financing decisions, and other corporate initiatives
  • Partner with Portfolio Strategy to lead financial aspects of Portfolio and Long-Range Planning process, working cross-functionally to consolidate inputs for revenue, operating expense and headcount assumptions
  • Provide financial support & valuation for business development transactions
  • Serve as finance representative on cross functional product development teams, managing program budgets, coordinating cost projections
  • Liaise with members of Investor Relations, Corporate Accounting, Tax & Treasury teams on corporate finance matters related to long range planning and valuation
  • Manage cash forecast and support overall corporate reporting

Minimum Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in analytical role in biotech/pharmaceutical industry, consulting, or investment banking with strong knowledge of the drug development process
  • Critical thinker – highly analytical and able to operate at both a strategic (big picture) and operational (small picture) level.

    Demonstrated experience developing complex models to solve ambiguous business problems.

    Detail-oriented while also comfortable with the “80/20” rule and high-level planning judgments.

  • Expert Microsoft Excel & strong PowerPoint skills; expert financial modeling skills
  • Experience working effectively in a matrixed environment with ability to build strong working relationships with diverse business partners
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Economics/Accounting/Finance or similar

Preferred Qualifications

  • FP&A experience (ie: budgeting, forecasting, quarter close, etc.)
  • MBA preferred
