Controller

Our client, a publicly traded SaaS organization is looking for a Controller. This Controller will be responsible for spearheading accounting functions, overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, production of financial reports, and focusing on maximizing profits and reports used for long term-financial goals. Responsibilities: 

• Provide leadership and vision for scaling the accounting team and infrastructure to keep up with demands. 
• Develop, implement and maintain internal systems and financial controls ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal tax requirements and filings.
• Recommend benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.
• Own the financial close process and all associated processes and reporting to deliver accurate and timely results to the organization to facilitate critical decision making.
• Own the chart of accounts, ensuring you can report company results in various views desired by management.
• Perform analytical review of financial reports including balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statements to identify potential accounting errors and omissions.
• Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
• Serve as the key liaison between external auditors to evaluate the effectiveness and adequacy of the financial system and to areas for improvement.
• Ensure that stock & option transactions are properly accounted for.

Qualifications: 

• Must have previous work experience as a Controller at a publicly traded company. 
• 5+ Years of experience in a Controller role
• 10+ years experience progressive accounting management roles in high-growth companies.
• 4+ years experience directly managing a team.
• A strong technical accounting background, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) highly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• Experience in a rapidly scaling startup or technology organization. 
• Proven experience managing accounting professionals including hiring, onboarding, and performance management.
• Hands-on experience in managing accounting operations, monthly/quarterly accounting close and preparation of financial statements
• Strong knowledge of internal controls and Nasdaq.
• Track record of driving organizational change and improving a function
• Proven ability to synthesize diverse data, present results, and provide recommendations in a meaningful way.
