Job Overview:
Our Controller will be responsible for maximizing return on financial assets by establishing financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems.
Essential Functions:
Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department’s goals and objectives.
Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing accounting policies and procedures.
Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
Prepare timely, monthly financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to aid in financial and strategic decision-making endeavors.
Monitor and confirm company financial condition by conducting internal audits; provide information to external auditors or investors when requested.
Prepare budgets; collect, analyze, and consolidate financial data
Achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
Prepare special reports as needed by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
Oversee accounting department by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
Maintain accounting job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Protect operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
Skills and Qualifications
8-10+ years related accounting and financial management experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics/Great Plains highly preferred
Experience in retail or apparel/fashion a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
CPA designation preferred
Strong management, multitasking, and decision-making skills
