Community-Based Therapist

Organization Overview Since 1981 CHRIS 180 has been dedicated to healing and recovery for children, youth, adults and families and is a growing $18 million organization with over 250 employees.

CHRIS 180 services include: counseling for the community at large; school based mental health counseling; homes for abused, neglected foster children with emotional and behavioral problems who are in state custody; supportive housing for single and parenting young people, ages 17 24 who are homeless or aging out of foster care; in-home services and community programs that strengthen families; outreach, drop-in and community housing for older teens, young adults and young adult families; a community center; an adoption program for children in foster care; and, training for professionals, human service workers, educators, volunteers, individuals who work within the community, other organizations and children, youth and families.

The goal for all services is to unlock the potential that resides in each person to help them become self-sufficient, contributing adults who have the skills to navigate lifes challenges.

Position Summary The primary focus of the position will be on interventions with the children and families in a therapeutic role.

Services are provided to children aged 5-21 with signs of SED and are provided in a variety of community-based sites such as the home, daycare, school, after school programs.

Trauma-informed and evidence-based services/practices will be utilized within the programs and individualized to each youth and family.

The community therapist will provide clinical screening, develop interventions to meet treatment needs, and provide crisis management and will collaborate with the wraparound team in service provision.

Role and Responsibilities The primary duties include but are not limited to the following: Screen, evaluate and triage potential consumers to determine what services/evidence-based interventions should be offered Provide initial clinical impressions Administer a behavioral health assessment Administer assessments dependent on presenting issues Administer The Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths
– Trauma (CANS) Develop and monitor IRRPs/Treatment Plans Provide a minimum of weekly therapeutic sessions, or as agreed upon in the wraparound plan of care, using EBPs Provide therapeutic intervention, coaching, training, and support to caregivers and other involved parties in support of the youths stability and functioning as needed Evaluate and document clients level of functioning and progress toward attainment of goals Maintain a firm understanding of the Wraparound model approach to care to help participants access holistic and comprehensive services to meet their goals as a family Coordinate services and collaborate with others Participate in child and family team meetings for all assigned youth to provide clinical recommendations and contribute to the development of the plan of care and safety and crisis plan Maintain frequent communication and work in collaboration and coordination with assigned care coordinator community behavior aide Collaborate and consult with other providers and entities in the provision of best care services to consumers Monitor the provision of services provided Specific services to consumers Provide therapy for enrolled youth and their caregivers Demonstrate exceptional engagement skills and clinical expertise in providing trauma-focused mental health treatment to target client population.

Exhibit enhanced skills related to child therapy Provide evidence-based trauma-informed individual treatment to clients Manage clinical caseload.

Number of clients on caseload is based on frequency of sessions.

Use preventive intervention techniques when needed to prevent injury (to self or others) Provide outpatient services to include: providing individual counseling, family counseling/training and/or group counseling/training to consumers with MH, co-occurring or substance abuse disorders as classified by the DSM IV/V TR.

Documentation Requirements Complete all documentation related to training completion Timely documentation of all case activities in accordance with CHRIS180 policy Maintain detailed case files and other documentation in 100% compliance with standards.

Complete monthly summaries for clients in DFCS custody or those receiving wrap services as necessary.

Practice Requirements Adhere to the organization policies and procedures.

Attend individual supervision weekly.

Attend treatment team meetings Participate in clinical consultation Review case studies.

Provide feedback for hard to manage cases Solid decision-making ability as related to the safety and well-being of clients, families, community and staff.

Be guided by precedent and established policy and procedure in decision-making.

This person will be required to analyze and react to difficult situations, often while under considerable stress and pressure.

Performance and Conduct Maintain confidentiality of consumer information Maintain appropriate professional boundaries Follow the CHRIS 180 Code of Ethics Follow mandated reporting requirements of GA Code Support and maintain an environment of emotional and physical safety for consumers, staff and other stakeholders at all times Ability to recognize when assistance and consultation is needed.

Provide positive role-modeling to consumers/clients and their families Promote self-esteem Promote healthy boundaries Promote good hygiene and appropriate personal appearance among youth and young adults Reinforce socially acceptable behaviors (ex: manners, eating habits, safety) Teach and reinforce thoughtful decision making skills Ability to effectively relate to clients, parents/custodians of all social, economic, ethnic and educational backgrounds, with firmness, fairness and concern Demonstrate customer service; Promote positive image of CHRIS 180 programs at all times Work as a contributing and collaborative team member Respond to consumer, referral and peer needs in a timely fashion Answer telephone calls and emails accordingly Respond to requests for information from stakeholders in a timely fashion Maintain Personal Information and Training; Attend and participate in staff meetings as scheduled Attend and participate in required trainings as scheduled Maintain required certifications Review, understand and responsible to program policies Provide documents in a timely fashion to Human Resources Report changes in status to HR as required by policy Other The ideal candidate will possess the following: The community therapist will possess a masters degree in the field of social work, counseling and/or marriage and family therapy with minimum of associates degree.

Preferred full licensure in a counseling area such as LPC, LCSW or LMFT.

The community therapist should also have a minimum of 2 years experience working with children and/or families with youth having a severe emotional and/or behavioral diagnosis.

Schedule This is a full-time position, and the community therapist will work an average of 80 hours bi-weekly, which may include weekdays, weekday evenings, and weekends.

The hours will vary from week to week depending on the needs of the youth and families being served.
