Sexual Orientation & Gender Institute of Arizona
The Sexual Orientation and Gender Institute of Arizona (SOGIA) is a growing private group practice in Phoenix, AZ.
Due to the increase in telepractice all therapy and group practice staff/consultation meetings are conducted via telepractice.
Subsequently, there is the potential for locations throughout Arizona (e.g., Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff, Yuma, etc.) where a provider has access to their own WIFI and HIPAA compliant computer systems.
At SOGIA we specialize in evidence-based therapies (e.g., ACT, CBT, CGT, CPT, DBT, and Trauma Focused-CBT) and are willing to provide appropriate training for those applicants who are interested in increasing their skill sets.
We are currently accepting applications for part-time, Arizona licensed psychologists.
The positions would be a great fit for someone wanting to supplement their full or part-time job.
At least 5 clinical hours per week are required to start, with the potential for growing your caseload.
The positions will start virtually, with the possibility of transitioning to in-person.
Position 1 and 2 Adult and Child/Youth LGBTQIA: Has a strong interest in receiving comprehensive training or applicants have strong experience in LGBTQIA client care.
The applicants may specialize in any age (e.g., children, youth, or adults) as we provide services across the lifespan.
The ideal candidate should have experience that is aligned with their age-of-client experience in assessment and treatment of relational issues (e.g., couples therapy, family therapy), mood disorders (e.g., depression, anxiety), behavioral issues (e.g., anger management, self-harm, impulsivity), personality disorders (e.g., BPD, NPD), and identity development (e.g., LGBTQIA, cultural concerns).
DBT experience is encouraged and is not required.
Position 3 LGBTQIA Family and Family Planning Specialist: Has a strong interest in receiving comprehensive training or the applicant has strong experience in conducting family therapy with LGBTQIA headed families and/or parents with LGBTQIA children/youth.
Additionally, supportive therapy for LGBTQIA clients who are having challenges with family planning, parenting skills, or differences in parenting.
The ideal candidate can assess family systems and understand the complex nature of those challenges uniquely facing LGBTQIA families.
Candidates may have existing relationships with community partners that can help those with family planning difficulties For all three positions:
•Have obtained a Ph.D.
or Psy.D.
from an APA-accredited graduate program in psychology
•Have a license to practice in Arizona
•Have a strong foundation in Cognitive Behavioral Therapies (CBT) and issues of diversity
•Preference may be given to those with experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and/or Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
•Have your own malpractice liability insurance.
There is also the opportunity to participate in our training program with local university (e.g., Arizona State University and Midwestern University) doctoral counseling and clinical practicum students.
We offer the flexibility of a private practice with administrative support, marketing, and billing/collections.
We also work closely with several referral sources both online (e.g., Psychology Today, website visits) and local/national PCPs, inpatient/residential programs, psychiatrists, schools, and other mental health providers.
As we do not contract with insurance companies (fee-for-service), we offer competitive salary, training/consultation, and flexible schedules.
