Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

  • Chief Financial Officer

    We are partnering with a mid-market private equity backed manufacturing organization seeking a Chief Financial Officer.

    The Chief Financial Officer will lead all finance, accounting, and banking activities across the organization, as well as information technology. He/she will be responsible for driving the company’s financing activities and helping the CEO drive growth, profitability, cash flow generation, and equity value creation. The CFO will act as a key thought partner to the CEO, the board, and other members of the executive team. The CFO will also be heavily involved in the company’s acquisition activities, from sourcing and due diligence through integration execution and synergy realization. The CFO will be responsible for leading a corporate finance organization capable of supporting the company’s businesses and the ability to scale organically and through acquisition.

    CFO will assume overall leadership of the day-to-day financial and control operations of the company, including accurate and timely financial reporting to the board, lenders, and internal constituents, planning and analysis, accounting, internal controls, financial policy development, budgeting and modeling, audit, tax, strategic investment, merger & acquisitions, credit, compliance, and integration of business systems.

    Additionally, specific responsibilities of the CFO include:

    • Support CEO to grow sales, EBITDA and profits in line with annual fiscal budget
    • Maximize enterprise value by structuring company appropriately and eventually helping exit the investment
    • Serve as thought partner, roll up the sleeves to get into the details, and provide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities
    • Provide reporting, analytics and financial support for day-to-day and strategic goals
    • Instill a culture of financial awareness throughout the executive management team and down throughout the entire company through the creation of financial and operating metrics (e.g. working capital, CAPEX, liquidity, tax positions and debt paydown) which identify root causes and solutions.
    • Drive the financial processes around acquisitions and ensure the smooth integration
    • Develop and manage proper investment models to analyze new business opportunities and potential acquisitions.
    • Effectively integrate acquisitions to uncover, drive, and monitor both short-term and long-term cost savings and revenue opportunities across the organization.
    • Support the board / private equity sponsor
    • Act as primary contact with lender and manage requirements of operating in leveraged environment
    • Demonstrate complete mastery of credit docs.
    • Manage lending relationships: ability to answer lender requests/questions and participate in financial negotiations.
    • Manage the cash flow of the business in compliance with loan terms.
    • Act as primary legal, tax and regulatory lead for company
    • Oversee the Information Technology function
    • Support the company in the development and management of an annual fiscal budget
    • Oversee the annual budgeting process and provide visibility on a weekly, monthly and annual basis for each business unit, tying in longer term strategic goals into shorter term financial accountabilities.

    Critical Success Factors

    • Develop a strong rapport and trust with the CEO, its senior team, suppliers and PE firm; establishing a visible and positive presence. Become a valued business partner to the CEO and PE sponsor.
    • Demonstrate an ability to earn and maintain a healthy following in the organization. CEO and staff are very focused on building a high energy, positive culture.
    • Quickly assess the strengths and weaknesses of the finance and IT organization and create a high-performance environment that will give team members specific responsibilities and authority to achieve the goals. Hold the team accountable and make people changes as needed.
    • Drive business results by identifying opportunities and trends, as well as potential issues, short-falls, and risks — serving as a vocal sounding board and value-added leader.
    • Help drive and execute the company’s acquisition strategy (as well as any potential divestments), including the integration and optimization of bolt-ons.
    • Energized to tackle large challenges and drive them to resolution. Private Equity, turnaround environment that requires a strong work ethic and willngess to get your hands dirty.
    • Ability to create excellent financial presentations and KPI Dashboards as well as the ability to present the business, from employees to potential buyers.

Job Requirements:

      • Qualifications
        • Successful track record serving as a VP of Finance or CFO for a PE-owned manufacturing business.
        • Successful track record of leading and executing acquisitions.
        • Positive and collaborative team player, yet confident, value-add, outspoken and credible.
        • 10+ years of experience
        • Medium sized private or public company
        • M&A experience is a plus
        • Bachelors in Accounting or Finance
        • CPA is a plus
        • MBA is desirable.
