The role entails working closely with cross-functional teams to help develop strategic plans and guide investments in BU segments for developed markets worldwide.
This includes helping to create and drive the business unit segment strategy, P& L (profit & loss) statement, product roadmap and portfolio, market value realization, assay and platform (product) development, and non-organic investments (i.E., open innovation, M& A).This is a highly visible role that includes frequent interaction with executive leadership, and other key internal and external partners!
As a leader within the Finance organization, this role’s overarching responsibilities include all financial aspects of the business unit’s efforts in delivering insightful business analysis that enables decision-making and improves Cepheid’s overall performance.This position is part of the Financial Planning & Analysis department andwill be located in Sunnyvale, CA.
*In this role, you will have the opportunity to:* * Partner with the Senior VP to drive the growth and profitability of the business unit and help set and deliver on its financial objectives.* Lead the BU Finance Team(s) in partnering with leadership supporting the business.* Own and collaborate with the commercial finance team in the new matrixed organization, to create the BU budget, forecast and actual reporting processes along with related Cepheid/DHR deliverables w/ special focus on forecast accuracy.* Analyze financials with the goal of generating insights on key business drivers and initiating countermeasures if the BU deviates from its targets.* Support all financial aspects of new product development via the product life cycle management toll-gate process.* Maintain a culture of control & compliance with regardsto financial controls & cost discipline.* Lead & deliver on special projects (Make vs.
Buy, Production / Product relocation, M& A).* Drive culture of ongoing process improvement to help identify opportunities in the areas of minimizing idle capacity, unit & total cost, and maximizing labor & instrument efficiency.*Drive organizational improvements to develop the best team possible and work with staff to ensure that adequate development plans are in place so that we create and grow a bench of robust finance talent.* Build and maintain an environment of personal accountability that encourages ownership of issues and excellence in service.* Maintain a strong team focusm on ” Professional people development”, accountability, respect and committing to results.
*The essential requirements of the job include: * * Bachelor’s or advanced degree with a concentration in Finance/Accounting/Economics or related field.
MBA is a plus* Minimum 14+ years of relevant experience in medium to large scale organization ideally in med tech industry *Knowledge and Skills:* * Demonstrated success working with (and leading) cross-functional teams to understand business drivers and deliver financially and operationally impactful outcomes to the business.* Confirmed experience to successfully lead others; create and foster an environment of collaboration & teamwork.* Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, and an understanding of the implications your actions and those of the Finance team will have on the strategic and organizational demands of a rapidly growing company.* Results oriented; high eye for business/strategic orientation, influence leadership, change leadership – driving a change to execution seamlessly.* Strong discernment, including the ability to partner and communicate with line management and Danaher operating businesses, as needed.* Engaging personality so that you are sought out as a solution provider and problem solver.* Drive strong employee engagement across a geographically/culturally diverse team.* Committed to continuous improvement through the use of DBS/Lean tools.* Deals well with ambiguity and applies critical-thinking and creativity to research and analysis.* Self-motivated with a bias for action with strong analytical skills and ability to utilize those skills to influence and motivate change.* Detailed orientation, passion, and curiosity to dive into problem areas before they become financial surprises.Cepheid, a Danaher company, offers a broad array of comprehensive, competitive benefit programs that add value to our lives.
