Position Overview:The Manager of Accounting will function as a leader and business partner with management, and team members to ensure compliance of reporting, processes and controls.
The Manager of Accounting will develop and lead the accounting team including financial reporting, reconciliation, analysis, and ad hoc reporting for use by internal and external users.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to the following): Monthly responsibilities:Oversee the month-end financial close process, able to handle tight close deadlinesExpense variance analysis (budget and forecasts)Review monthly accruals and prepaids,Review month-end account reconciliations and various analysisLead, train, develop, and motivate accounting staff in order to maintain a high level of employee commitment and competenceReview variances with directors across the field to provide strong support to operations and all areas of the businessManaged capital spending and fixed assets depreciationReview and approve bank reconciliations on timely basisReporting:Maintains report of internal and external financial reporting deadlines and the status of reportsResponds to various requests for financial informationPrepare/Review departmental reportsAccounting for Fixed Assets:Lead the process for capital vs expense determination of fixed assets, and manage the project code assignment processReconcile fixed assets sub-ledger to the general ledgerWork with the A/P team to ensure proper coding of fixed assetsWork closely with department heads and Director of Materials Management to ensure assets tagging and disposal are done on a timely basis Developing accounting policies and procedures:Implement processes in order to drive enhancement of internal controls, efficiencies and accountabilityWork on automation and process improvement to eliminate manual or redundant processesCross-training staff to ensure proper backup structureSupport external audits, ad hoc analysis (including affiliated entities)Performing other duties, as required.
Qualifications and Education: Bachelor degree in Accounting/Finance, MBA or CPA PreferredMinimum of 5 years accounting/finance experience in finance, minimum of 2 years in a management roleAdvanced Microsoft Excel formulas and functionsDemonstrated knowledge of forecasting and financial statement analysisKnowledge of GAAP/accrual and cash basis accountingSelf-starter with strong analytical, critical thinking and data gathering skillsAbility to manage a team and work effectively with co-workersAbility to roll up sleeves, pitch in and work in a team environmentAbility to meet tight deadlines and prioritize projects of teamAbility to communicate clearly (written and oral) All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, ethnicity, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status.
