The Northwell Health Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine seeks Board Certified/Board Eligible MD or MD PhD Physician to join our team as Blood Bank Medical Director at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Lake Success, New York .
�Required qualifications include American Board of Pathology (ABP) certification in Clinical Pathology (CP, with joint AP/CP certification preferred); accredited fellowship training in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine (to include stem cell retrieval and therapeutic apheresis) with ABP certification in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine; and a minimum of 3 years post-fellowship experience, preferably with at least 2 years as a Director or Associate Director of a Blood Bank.� The preferred individuals would have demonstrated effective leadership and management abilities, including experience in support of oncology, hematology, trauma, transplant, pediatric, and obstetric programs.� Highlights include: Provide visible and accessible leadership and oversee all operations of the respective hospital Blood Bank.
Serve as the liaison with the Northwell Health Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Laboratory Service Line.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements of CAP, AABB, New York State Department of Health, FDA and other regulatory agencies.
Provide leadership with respect to patient safety and quality, blood bank/transfusion medicine policies and procedures and operational performance of the blood bank.
