The Opportunity

This is an amazing opportunity for a rising accounting professional seeking to leverage their leadership capabilities to direct the day-to-day activities of our accounting department. This individual will serve as coach and mentor to our experienced team managers who have oversight of G/L, A/P, A/R, payroll, and daily cash management functions. What’s more, the Assistant Controller will gain valuable experience on special projects, including the implementation of an automated AP process here at Wellness Pet. In addition, our Assistant Controller will:

  • Own the month-end close process, ensuring accuracy in accordance with GAAP
  • Review and approve reconciliations, journal entries, and various analyses
  • Prepare and coordinate monthly financial information in various formats to be submitted to parent and banks
  • Act as primary liaison with the Company’s internal and external auditors
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including G/L, A/P, A/R, payroll, and daily cash management.
  • Implement, document, and monitor compliance with internal control policies and procedures
  • Provide technical and operational support for the group


Who We’re Looking For

This position is ideally suited for an accounting professional who can be successful in a high-growth environment and excels at leading teams. Our Assistant Controller will need to be analytical, detail-oriented, and have a problem-solving mindset. Experiential requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 7+ years of progressive professional accounting experience, including 2+ years of supervisory experience
  • Experience with consolidation and financial statements preparation
  • A strong customer service mindset
  • Working knowledge of ERP/MRP platforms and advanced Excel skills
  • High energy, detail-oriented individual with strong time management skills
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and takes a proactive approach
  • Sees challenges as opportunities and translates them into actionable tasks
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
