Our client is a highly-recognizable and reputable aerospace manufacturer in Los Angeles seeking to bring an experienced Assistant Controller on-board. The company has expanded to operate in close to 30 states across the country out of more than 100 manufacturing plants, and have established themselves as a front-runner in the aerospace industry.
The Opportunity:
The Assistant Controller will assist and report directly to the Controller. This person will assist the Controller in managing all aspects of general ledger, including but not limited to, month-end closing, preparation and review of financial statements, budgeting/forecasting, and various other financial operating reports.
Responsibilities:
- Helps direct month-end close and review reconciliations prepared by others related to fixed assets and depreciation, revenue and expense accruals, and bank reconciliations
- Inventory analysis, reconciliation, and JE posting
- Oversees accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting functions.
- Acts as liaison for internal and external audits.
- Works with SOX Coordinator and Compliance Manager to ensure timely and accurate reporting
- Learns SOX Corporate requirements and maintains records to comply with said requirements
- Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Supports major corporate economic strategies, objectives, and policies by overseeing general accounting policies, processes and activities.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of similar business experience in a public company for a significant business unit, product line, or division generating
- CPA preferred, public accounting experience a plus.
- Extensive experience with ERP systems and excel required
- Strong background in product cost Accounting (standard cost system) and experience in plant accounting/finance systems
