The American Academy of Dermatology is seeking a Staff Accountant located in our Rosemont, IL office responsible for assisting in month and year-end closing of books and internal and external reporting of Academy’s financial statements.
Responsible for the financial activities associated with fixed asset reporting, advertising, cash receipts and accounts receivable.
Perform related account and financial analysis of general ledger.

Ensure the Senior Administrative Assistant performs procedures and maintains controls related to the balancing and distribution of lock box activity.
Analyze general ledger accounts.
Maintain documentation of internal controls surrounding cash receipt/lock box/petty cash activities.Maintain and review analysis of accounts receivable, cash clearing and restricted funds liability accounts and other accounts as assigned.
Generate Aptify aging’s, views, and reports to substantiate balances.
Monthly, prepare account reconciliations and schedules and resolve aged, outstanding, or reconciling balances.
Oversee Aptify advertising accounting.
Review monthly advertising aging’s and communicate outstanding accounts receivable balances to the respective department on a monthly basis.Prepare monthly bank reconciliation.
Prepare related journal entries for monthly close.
Assist in communication with Academy’s banks regarding various banking matters.Oversee the month end process to record the accrual and reversal journal entries for all vendor invoices with multiple department expense line items, such as royalties, telephone, postage and shipping, Annual Meeting / Summer Academy Meeting hotel lodging, meeting, and audio-visual invoices.Oversee the accounting for fixed assets and property, plant, and equipment.
Maintain and update fixed asset and PPE schedules.
Review and analyze the calculation of depreciation for all fixed assets and amortization for assets.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.Prefer experience with a not for profit with a minimum of three years in an accounting/finance department required.Knowledge of computer based financial systems; Dynamics (SL2018) or Great Plains general ledger experience required.Experience working with a Proficiency in MS Office (Excel and Word) is required.Working experience in Workday Adaptive Planning for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting purposes is a plus.Effective verbal and written interpersonal communication, analytical and organizational skills required.Attention to detail skills is essential.
