SUMMARY The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and driving the day-to-day accounting activities for all of the company’s assets.
This role will develop and implement systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting information.
They will be heavily involved in the development and maintenance of reporting packages, regular audits, compliance adherence, and driving the implementation of new systems.
The Accounting Manager will assist with all reporting requirements and cash flow processes by coordinating with onsite general managers, ownership groups and the accounting team.
This is a full-time, exempt position located in the North Dallas/Addison/Plano area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Corporate Function: Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions Meet financial accounting deadlines & objectives Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles.
Author an instruction manual for training employees on all accounting processes & procedures.
Ensure accounting activities maintain appropriate controls and comply with federal laws and state regulations, corporate policies & guidelines, and consistently adhere to GAAP standards.
Identify opportunities for developing sustainable, efficient processes Optimize company cash flow by making suggestions and reconciling cash and credit card payments and reimbursements in a timely manner.
Analyze financials, including variance reports and market studies Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including: cash receipts cost controls payroll billings treasury, budgeting, cash forecasting revenue and expenditure variance analysis capital assets reconciliations fixed asset activity Property Level Accounting Operations: Spearhead the month, QTR, and year-end process to close property books including generating and posting journal entries, bank reconciliation, GL account reconciliation, inter-company transactions, gross receipts tax filing, AP/ AR, and Variance analysis review Develop monthly and year end accounting processes for each building and Align Residential Manage and audit company accounts for properties in-state and out-of-state Execute billing and invoicing needs for properties
– credit cards, payroll, and management fees Initiate and complete funding requests and bank transfers for properties Assist with the business license application & renewal process and ensure all required licenses are acquired.
Oversee Quickbooks, Yardi, and other PMS system administration and spearhead any system adaptations Assist in reviewing, analyzing, and forecasting annual property budget Assist in payment schedule and reconciliation of taxes Prepare and analyze subsidiary ledgers, such as prepaid and deferred expenses, loan schedules, fixed asset roll-forward, and amortization and depreciation General Perform other related duties and assignments as required Comply with local and federal Fair Housing Standards SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES May supervise up to 4 Accountants as the portfolio grows.
Assist in supervising 3rd party Accounting group MUST HAVE: BS degree in Accounting or Finance 5 years’ experience in Accounting/Finance, with strong general ledger and property level transactions experience.
Proven success working as Property Accounting Manager or Finance Manager Experience in property management Superior knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations Advanced computer skills on MS Office, PMS systems, accounting software and databases Previous experience working with Yardi High attention to detail and accuracy Ability to execute well under pressure and meet deadlines for concurrent projects NICE TO HAVE: CPA license Residential or hospitality background is a plus WHAT WE WILL PROVIDE: Experience at a fast-growing company dedicated to your development and success Unlimited PTO Flexible work arrangement
