Job Details

Overview:

• Assist in managing the monthly financial review process of the accounting department related to the property management portfolio. Will report to the Assistant Controller, and will assist in development of internal control policies, procedures, and process management.

Responsibilities include, but will not be limited to:

• Review and approve monthly financial statements prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, including supporting schedules for entire property management portfolio
• Supervise and oversee a portion of the accounting staff
• Responsible for full-cycle financial reporting on a portfolio of assets
• Prepare fund level accounting for two Separate Account joint ventures with a State Retirement fund and a Life Insurance company
• Oversee annual audits related to these funds
• Work with the team to enforce close deadlines for a wide array of clients
• Review and approve monthly owner distributions
• Recommend new accounting procedures as needed

Qualifications:

• 5-7+ years of previous accounting experience with supervisory experience
• Property accounting/Commercial real estate experience would be nice to have
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Bachelor’s degree in finance or business administration with emphasis in accounting
• CPA a plus
• Experience with MRI and YARDI accounting software a plus
• Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
