Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager (the “Manager’) leads the day-to-day Finance and Accounting operations at the Edgewood, MD site and is responsible for oversight of all auditing, financial reporting, accounting, and internal control systems. The Manager will support the local Management Team. The Manager will also be responsible to instill all of the the company’s policies, procedures and culture in the position’s direct reports.
Direct reports to the Manager will include: General Ledger Accountants (2) and Junior Accountant.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Accounting Department – Responsibilities include application of the divisional accounting policies and procedures, accurate and timely recording of all transactional accounting, enforcing accounting policies and procedures, monthly, half-year and year-end close, compliance and account reconciliations including reviews and sign-offs, managing the insurance data collection process, managing government census reporting, preparing all supporting documentation for tax team related to federal and state tax returns and projects, preparing and filing all annual personal property tax returns, preparing all annual business license renewals, and managing the sales and use tax compliance in conjunction with outsourced firm
- Financial Statement Reporting – Responsibilities include accurate and timely production of monthly, half year and year-end financial statements, loading to financial reporting consolidation tool from ERP data, and ensuring financial statements comply with International Financial Reporting Standards
- Auditing and Controls – Responsibilities include assisting with our external and internal audits, successfully planning and leading all audits including compliance, controls, and financial. Assisting with the preparation of the annual internal audit questionnaire, maintaining an adequate internal control system to provide protection of the company’s assets and to ensure proper recording of information and enforcing policies and procedures around auditing and controls
- Setting objectives, coaching, reviewing and training of the Edgewood Accounting Staff

The Individual
Education/Experience:
- Business diploma/degree is required
- Recognized Accounting qualification required (CPA or Equivalent)
- Five (5) years of relevant experience
- Experience with the duties and responsibilities above
- SAP knowledge is desirable but not required
- MS Office and advanced Excel skills
Knowledge/Skills:
- Commitment to recruiting, mentoring, training, and retaining a diverse team; the foresight and ability to delegate accordingly
- Keen analytical, organizational and problem solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management
- Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Responsible to supervise a staff of 3 professionals
