Job Description
The Department of Physics at the University of Nevada, Reno is seeking applications for an Account Technician 1. The position will be responsible for regular analysis and reconciliation of multiple complex accounts. The Accountant Technician 1 will need an in-depth knowledge of the different account types and rules that govern the accounts, such as state accounts, course fees and grant accounts to name a few. Additionally, this position will work closely with the Business Manager to make recommendations and predications regarding financial transactions. Duties will include preparing budget revisions in accordance with projected revenue and expenses; correcting deficits by entering adjustments (JV’s, PAA’s, AA’s, cost transfer justifications); ensure account adjustments are handled in a timely manner; audit grant accounts to ensure they are spent within grant parameters.

Required Qualifications
Graduation from high school supplemented by 6 college credits in beginning accounting and two (2) years of financial records maintenance experience which includes such duties as controlling accounts payable/receivable; preparing financial reports for internal management use; and reconciling complex accounts; OR two (2) years of experience as an Accounting Assistant III in Nevada State service which includes 6 college credits in beginning accounting; OR one year as an Accounting Assistant IV in Nevada State service which includes 6 college credits in beginning accounting; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above which must have included 6 college credits in beginning accounting.
Schedule
The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and requires flexibility to work occasional weekends and evenings; this is subject to change based on organizational needs.
