Saul Centers operates and manages a real estate portfolio of 61 community and neighborhood shopping center and office properties totaling approximately 9.8 million square feet of leasable area.
Saul Centers’ primary operating strategy is to continue its program of internal growth, renovations, and expansions of community and neighborhood shopping centers that primarily service the day-to-day necessities and services subsector of the overall retail market.
The Accountant II will be responsible for all aspects of property accounting for a complex portfolio of properties, extracts financial data for input into the accounting system, monitors tenant accounts and manages tenant relationships.
Assists in month end close and additional technical accounting tasks as necessary.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Abstract new leases, amendments, terminations, option renewals
Review and monitor tenant account balances, follow up on outstanding tenant receivables weekly
Correspond with tenants regarding billing and account inquiries
Prepare property operating statements, book monthly accruals and provide explanations for budget to actual variances
Prepare monthly rent rolls
Prepare quarterly account reconciliations
Prepare all rent, tax, and operating expense billings and send to tenants
Collaborate with collections, property management, finance, and leasing departments to provide information and resolve tenant inquiries as needed
Assist with training of other Accountants
Research inquiries from senior management during month and quarter end close
Serve as the backup cash processor, as necessary
Assist with special projects or assignments, as necessary
Job Requirements (Skills & Abilities):
Intermediate Excel spreadsheet skills
Strong analytical skills
Strong organizational skills
Punctual, dependable, and reliable
High level of interpersonal communication skills; ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy
Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with a wide variety of individuals in person, via telephone and in writing
Ability to work in a positive and cooperative manner with fellow team members
Strong attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities, abstracting lease data, and meeting deadlines
Capability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing tasks and demands
Experience:
2-5 years training as an Accountant, experience in real estate environment preferred
Knowledge of Yardi Software
Education / Licenses / Certifications:
Four year Degree in Accounting or Finance required
CPA preferred
BFS7501
