Develops, monitors, and reviews financial reports, payroll, accounts payable, internal review, follow-up, and banking data.
Develop and revise in-house data to meet new requirements.
Provide guidance and direction necessary to effectively accomplish mission requirements.
Serve as point of contact for all matters dealing with the accounting function.
Make rational analysis of various aspects of operation to identify problem areas or unfavorable conditions which may have developed.
Train and supervise Accounting Technician.
Responsibilities: Directs the accounting management of MWR, including supervision of an Accounting Technician.
Prepare monthly financial reports encompassing all MWR activities and prepare quarterly financial reports to present to Base Command.
Accountant responsibilities for Morale Units in the AOR include reviewing all Morale Account Financial Statements, in addition to reconciling and distributing quarterly, Shipmate, and Capital Improvement Morale Funding.
Ensure all MWR bank accounts are balanced in a timely manner and any disputes resolved immediately.
Review finished product and analyze results in terms of profitability, performance against budget and other matters bearing or the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.
Adhere to established standards of actively supporting the principles of accounting and ensure accounting technician has a clear understanding on regulations and procedures.
Maintain/update MWR Accounting SOP’s.
Serves as point of contact for all matters dealing with the accounting function.
Adhere to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements: Minimum: 1.
Completion of the requirements for a bachelor’s degree which include 24 semester hours in accounting from an accredited university or college or combination of experience and education to include progressively responsible management accounting experience.
2.
Must be able to work independently and have a strong understanding of accounting best practices and data entry software.
3.
Work experience directing the activity of subordinate accounting staff.
4.
Experience working with a diverse group of managers.
5.
Required to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
6.
Knowledge of computer programs such as Excel, Word, QuickBooks and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications: + Five or more years accounting experience.
OTHER ESSENTIAL INFORMATION : + Selectee will be required to participate in Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer as the Standard method of payment for payroll and travel purposes.
